Hong Kong Texas Exes (HKTX, 德薩斯州大學香港校友會 in Chinese) is the non-chartered Hong Kong chapter of Texas Exes, the Ex-Students’ Association of the University of Texas at Austin. It was formed in 2001 and was registered as a society under the Hong Kong Societies Ordinance in 2009. It is a non-profit making organization whose overall aim is to unite, inform and involve alumni and friends of the University of Texas from and in Hong Kong for the purpose of promoting, protecting and preserving the history and traditions of UT. Its aims and objectives are to:
- Keep all alumni from and in Hong Kong connected to UT through communication and involvement.
- Enhance the Hong Kong general public’s understanding of and interest in UT.
- Enhance the experience of students from Hong Kong through scholarships and involvement.
- Preserve and enrich the history and traditions of UT in Hong Kong.
It organizes periodic alumni gatherings and serves as a contact point for all Texas Exes who have connections with Hong Kong. It has organized many activities, including happy hour gatherings (sometimes jointly with other universities’ alumni organizations), Longhorn football watching parties, and dinners with visitors from UT.
