This was the 4th year in a row that we hosted the Annual General Meeting and Texas Independence Day Dinner at Modern China Restaurant. The environment was excellent, the place was easily accessible, and the food was delicious as usual.
This meeting/dinner was the farewell event of the old Exco in which each of the Exco member has at least served in the committee for 7 years, since all Exco members decided to retire. The outgoing President Victor Nip first gave a report of the happenings of the previous year, followed by Carl Sung the outgoing Treasurer giving the financial report. Then the amendment to the Constitution was discussed. The important part of the amendment was the introduction of the Interim Administration Unit (IAU) which would keep HKTX running at the time when no members stand for election as the officers of the Exco, because no one had indicated their intention to take the management of the organization. All amendments were passed and the election of the IAU members followed. No members had applied to be elected as IAU members, so the guys of the old Exco volunteered to be IAU members to keep HKTX alive.
After the dinner, a few alumni went to a bar nearby to get a drink and had some more chats. It was a memorable night.
The dinner place is fixed. It is the Modern China Restaurant in Causeway Bay again!
